MEET THE EXPEDITION TEAM
What do you look like?
What's your name? Corinne Patrick
NO last name? Overman Wenckebach - try and pronounce that one!
Where was this picture taken ? The 'Grampians' National Park in Australia The 'Salar de Uyuni', a salt desert in Bolivia
Where are you from The USA, but I now live in London From the Netherlands (aka Holland), but now I live in London
What's your nickname? I don't really have any Too many to name them all, but here's a few, Pac, Picasso, all sorts of variations on my surname, and recently I have even been called 'silly Dutch boy'
What are your hobbies? Hiking, swimming, traveling, reading, catching up with family & friends, baking Sailing, skiing, cooking, writing, hiking, oh, and of course travelling
What are your responsibilities during the expedition? Most of it we share, but my focus is on making sure the education program is in perfect shape! We both do a bit of everything, but officially my role is 'expedition leader', so it's my responsibility to get us from A to B
What are your 'chores' during the expedition? I'll do most of the campsite set up, and probably most of the cleaning (if we leave that up to Patrick, most of the times it will be a total mess) I'll cook most of the times, and do the routine checks on the car
What's your favourite food? Cesar salad, chicken pesto pasta, mussels and Thai curry A nice piece of meat, or oysters, paté, escargots (snails), gratin,... I can make that list really long...
What's the strangest food you have ever eaten? I ate guinea pig once, and kangaroo. I love trying all different kinds of food I'll eat pretty much anything, but here are some of the strange ones - brain, jellyfish, grasshopper and crocodile
What is your education? Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting at Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana (USA) Quantum physics at the University of Leiden, and Econometrics at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam
What kind of work did you do before you started Tire Tracks? I first worked as an auditor, then became an operations consultant (helping companies work better and more efficiently). I also worked for internet start-up in Amsterdam. I used to be a commercial strategy consultant, which is a fancy name for someone who advises companies on how they can sell more of their products
Favourite time of day definitively the morning! anything but morning!
When's your birthday? 9th of March 5th of November
What's your favourite outfit? a skirt, tank top and, my favorite, flip flops Pants and a long sleeve shirt
What are you going to miss most? Family and friends My favourite food
What are you NOT going to miss at all London's cold and rainy weather the pollution
What languages do you speak? English and French (and I can understand a little Dutch) Dutch, English, French, German, Spanish, and a really, really tiny bit of Portuguese
What are you most scared of? mice! well, nothing of course
If ur scared of mice why r u in Africa? R u scared of any other pets hmmmm, Corrinne

Mice/rats/rodents are not my favorite, and that is about it. I don't like to see them running around but I should be ok with it in Africa. Not a thing!
What is the silliest / stupidest thing you have ever done? I think a long list of silly things is very possible...but I would have to think of them all. Probably, a lot, I'll have to get back to you on that one. And when we're on the road, in the facts of the day, we'll tell you the silliest / stupidest thing we did that day
Anything else you want to say? We are so happy that you are coming along with us to explore Africa and meet the people that live there. I hope you'll all enjoy coming along with us on this virtual journey. And if there's anything you want to know - ask!

Not now, but we always had a Chow chow (dog) when I grew up. I don't have any pets now, but I did have a dog when I grew up.
Have you ever gone on any other expedition besides this one in Africa?

I have travelled to many other places before but never on a big expedition like this one! I also have travelled to many countries, but never been on an expedition like this!

What is your most favorite book?

I have a lot of favorites but one that I really liked was Alchemist- a story with lots of meaning and lessons in it. One of my favorites is Nooit Meer Slapen- a Dutch book about a failed expedition in Norway.
Would you ever live in Africa for the rest of your life?

That is a possibility! Some of the major capital cities in the east and south of Africa may be an option, but I need to check them out first. I don't know yet, but it is a possibility.
